OWN’s Ready to Love Chef Shay provides a Santa Claus experience during the holidays
Houston local Chef Shay provides assistance to those in need during Christmas with a gourmet meal experience as many Americans face a grim Christmas
Houston, TX – On December 8th 2020 Celebrity Chef & OWN Reality Personality Shay Atkins announced the Santa Claus initiative. Many Americans are out of work and as some are preparing for the Christmas holiday, others are running out of unemployment benefits and other funding that has assisted with their living expenses.
With two key programs that were passed by Congress to expand and enhance unemployment benefits, set to expire on Jan. 1st,2021, millions of Americans could be left without an income that they have been relying on by next month. COVID-19 has not only financially impacted American’s but many people are isolated in their homes left spending Christmas without friends and family. The Santa Clause Initiative was created to provide those that have been impacted by the pandemic with a little Christmas cheer and one less worry.
Celebrity Chef Shay, who is well known for her 26 flavors of turkey, wanted to use her talent and purpose to give back by providing families meals. During the month of December, Chef Shay will donate $5 from all Christmas Dinner purchases to feed those impacted. Additionally Chef Shay will allow her audience to adopt a family. The cost to adopt a family is $100 and provides a full meal for a family of 6.

Chef Shay launched a similar initiative in 2011 in partnership with BlackCelebrityGiving.com to feed 5000 needy families during the Thanksgiving holiday.
